Who assigns personnel to projects?

My site supervisor, Marv Nelson, assigns all personnel to the projects going on at IAC. We receive assignments at our weekly staff meeting on Wednesdays, where we can determine what needs done, who's best equipped to perform the task, and how much time we have to complete it. This is a great time to help each other out to get our work done. Then, Marv has follow-up meetings one-on-one with staff members to check in on the progress of each task until the eventual due date.

IAC's Marketing Strategy

Our goal is to get our information on events, worship services, mission and vision to as broad an audience as possible. Being a multi-generational organization we want all to hear about and come to what we are doing. We especially desire younger families to come, stay and get involved. To do this, we developed a good, very interactive website, Facebook and online presence. We also are developing a MailChimp account to utilize email in a very targeted way.

01

Social Media

For many of the church's events, the staff uses Facebook's advertising portal to get the word out. The demographic is set to cater towards each ministry's typical audience. For example, a Children's Ministry event would have its demographic set to primarily women whose age ranges 20-40 y/o who engage with posts about family topics. This type of advertising costs varying amounts, depending on the length of time advertised and the amount of people who view it per day.

03

Website Presentation

Indiana Alliance Church has a website (https://indianaalliance.com/) that has all the information a congregant might need to learn about the church. It highlights the adult, college, youth, and children's ministries that IAC offers. Attendees can also find calendar updates, registration links, and details about the church's theology. The website was made with a website dashboard called, Clover that features reliable, easy-to-use templates for all of the staff to easily navigate and edit.

02

Live Streaming

Indiana Alliance Church has made it a priority to livestream their services, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. This allows congregants to watch the service from home if they are unable to attend. Livestreaming has proven profitable to the church as potential congregants can scope out the church without having to attend first. This helps the church to reach a wider audience, with the perk of attendees getting to look back on sermons and participate in the church via a digital platform.

04

Word of Mouth

One of the best ways that Indiana Alliance Church advertises itself is by creating an intentional space, where new attendees can feel comfortable and appreciated. For example, the pastor and elders decided to create an event called "Pizza with the Pastors"  where every quarter the church can share a meal with the staff. This event creates an intentional space for new attendees to ask questions and build rapport with the staff at IAC. These thoughtful experiences drive church goers to recommend IAC to others.

How is the site budget determined and monitored?

Nelson_Family_edited_edited_edited.png

"Every year, the staff and heads over certain budget areas overview the previous years spending trends. Once they do this research, they make a budget for the coming year based on the data and the vision for the coming year. This then goes to the Business Board for review where tweaks and questions will arise. The staff and heads of those other budget areas take this feedback and rework their budgets. It then is sent back to the Business Board for review and approval. Once they approve it goes to the Elders for the final review and approval. Then, on the second Wednesday of every year it goes before the church members for approval. Once the budget is approved, the Business Board monitors every account’s spending as well as every person’s spending at our monthly meetings. The treasurer signs off on all expenditures and reviews this information with the church bookkeeper on a regular basis."

My site supervisor, Marv Nelson, creates weekly advertisements about the upcoming sermon series which is posted on our outdoor digital sign and promoted on Facebook.

Non Applicable Final Project Requirements:

Given that Indiana Alliance Church is a nonprofit, some of the requirements could not be met for the final project. They are as follows:

1. Case study includes a list of services your site offers to their clients, internally and externally.

IAC does not have traditional business-related services as a church. Most jobs are performed with the church attendees in mind, but the church does not have traditional clientele in this way.

2. Case study includes price lists or fees for services.

IAC does not have price lists because it is a nonprofit and attendees are not charged for any services IAC provides.
